The British Government is committed to supporting the Colombian Government in its efforts to confront the interconnected problems of drugs, armed conflict, abuses of human rights and social inequality. The United Kingdom regards Colombia as an important regional influence and works to maintain and to strengthen the relations that both countries have enjoyed for more than 180 years.

HM Ambassador Mr Lindsay Croisdale-Appleby directs the work of the Embassy. He is the representative of the UK in Colombia. To find out more about the Ambassador, please click here

The Embassy is split up into various different departments;

The bilateral relations among the United Kingdom and Colombia are responsibilities of the Political Section (Chancery) of the British Embassy in Bogotá. The Chancery presents reports and analysis to the government of the United Kingdom about the guidelines of the Colombian Government in the political, economic, social and regional levels and its historical background.

The British Consulate staff in the Consular Section in Bogotá are there to look after the interests of British nationals (and some unrepresented Commonwealth nationals) visiting or living within Colombia.

The Press and Public Affairs Section works in direct contact with the Media to disclose information about the United Kingdom and its bilateral relations with Colombia on a commercial, cultural and political level.

The Trade and Investment Section is part of UK Trade and Investment (UKTI). Through this section, the British Embassy identifies products and services providers in the United Kingdom, and also provides relevant information about the British industry, its fairs, exhibitions and trade events.

At the Visa Section of the British Embassy the applications are assessed based on the Immigration Rules of the United Kingdom, providing a fast, efficient and amiable service.

The main purpose of the role of the CLO's (Community Liaison Officers) in the Community Liaison Officers Section, is to provide information; referral and support to UK based officers and their families before, during and after their posting to Colombia.
